Oh Me, Oh My, Oh Tebins...

Let me tell you a little something about Kevin Speltz aka Oh Tebins. Originally from Seattle, Speltz has been living in Tucson for the past three years but he will be moving to Brooklyn this fall. He happens to be pretty skilled with the whole music thing and recently shared with us his musical beginnings, inspiration and future plans.

THE BEGINNING
I started around age 16. The early years were mostly trial and error. In 2009, I switched genres, and as things got a little more polished I started to take myself seriously and worked to develop a sound that I could identify with.

THE INSPIRATION

Musically, I am inspired by catchy Big Band horns, quality Hip Hop, Soul singers, and just a splash of ethnic Jazz. I am starting to listen to more Electronic music lately. I really like the sounds of Atlas, Dauwd, and Luvian. In life, I am inspired by new surroundings, very late nights, and good ol' fashioned fun.

THE PRESENT & THE FUTURE
I'm currently focused on editing and adding to my live set. It's a never-ending process, and I think the effort that I have put into it thus far reads really well. I hope to gather some bookings for early 2013 so I can share what I have built.

Oh Tebens also shared a Free EP which can be found in the Soundcloud widget below. If you like what you hear, make sure to click on the links below for more of his work!

Protect Yourself From the Cold With the Warm Bass of Chilli B.

Here is a talented Bass music producer that I just happened to come across lately. He goes by the name of Chilly B. and he was kind enough to share some information with us about who his is, where he is from, and what he does. Did I mention he makes catchy tunes and gives most of them away for free?! Chilly B. is an all around good guy.

WHO IS CHILLY B.?
My name, well, its Chilly B. I am originally from a small town in Alberta, Canada called Medicine Hat. However, I now set up shop in Vancouver. I've been djing for, shoot, I guess eight or nine years now. But, I have only been producing music for the last four, after graduating from audio engineering!

INSPIRATION OF CHILLY B.
I gather my inspiration from my friends, who I consider my family, and our adventures! It's hard to choose any specific artist who inspires me most but I have an incredible respect for DJ Aplication (IGU) who if I never met, I would maybe never would have chosen this path. Glitchy & Scratchy AKA Bevvy Swift & El Mongoose (IGU) who adopted me into the Integrated Grime Unit (my Fam & inspiration). Nog & Myles Away (IGU), for being my classmates, friends, peers and my push to keep producing new sounds. Fluxo (IGU), for all the love. Dewey Decibel (IGU) for technical assistance and introducing me to new sounds on a regular.

CURRENT CHILLY B.
Currently, I'm working on perfecting a pan stereo slammer (I just made up the name) called "I'm Back" which, at the moment, sounds pretty HUGE...at least in my headphones!

FUTURE CHILLY B.
What's next? I couldn't say at the moment. I'm sort of stuck in the here and now after returning from Central America. But, I see more travel, more beats and many more great times and music to be shared. Below is some music I would like to share with you. If any are at the max download, please message me and hopefully I can send it to you asap. Have fun and keep on keepin' on!

Here we have two brothers with a passion for making music. FELONIOUS CRUNK "Thomas Cooper" and MENDOTRON "Jared Gordon" are definitely talented just listen to some of there music.

I was born in Vietnam, adopted at a young age, and raised in Syracuse, Nebraska. Jared was born and raised in Ukiah, California.

Jared has been producing music for almost two years now. I've been producing for a little over a year and a half. "Newbies" as we like to put it.

On Oct. 1st, you can pick up a few of our tracks on a compilation EP released on CrossRoads Records, called: FUEL 2.

I am currently working on what I call "phase II" productions. Trying to keep an open and diverse mind, and seeing what comes out of it. Jared also continues to produce tracks, and spends a lot of time in the studio, sound designing. We both are beginning to learn the aspects of DJing. And we hope to begin to play some live shows in the near future.

We both love music and thank everyone for listening!

Rinsing out all the best tunes with Hosta from Rub-A-Dub-Dub

"Bow Down To The Duck"
So this is one of the best Audio Blogs that I have come across in a long time! Hosta is really doing a service to the whole Bass community world wide. And he is achieving this by doing nothing more than sharing his love for music with the rest of us. It is sites and people like this that have inspired me. And so I pass this on in the hopes that it may inspire you too. I contacted Hosta to find out what he, and his work was all about.

What is your name?:
Ben Hossle also known as Hosta.

Where are you from?:
Originally from Manchester UK, I am now based in Newcastle UK at university.

What inspired you to start your blog?:
I just thought that at the time there were a lot of blogs about that were all posting the same music, I already had a load of tunes that people didn't know about, I thought that I could make my own site to promote unknown artists and its just kind of gone from there really.

How long have you been doing what you do?:
Its been just longer than a year since I started the Rub A Dub Dub Blog, and already its grown so much. I honestly didn't expect it to get as well known as it is currently and I like to think people respect it for what it is and pick up the odd gem now and then.

What are you currently working on?:
Currently I am working on a few projects. One I can announce is a new Free EP series that we are launching along with Jenai from Ego Thieves based in London UK. That should be dropping soon, and I think it will surprise a lot of people not just in the quality of music but also the vast range of music genre's we are going to cover in the series.

What is next?:
After that I have a few big plans that are probably too fresh to announce just yet but stay locked!
-Hosta.

It will be worth your time to check out all of Hosta's work.

Bass music from down under with ShifteQ

Ever wonder what Bass music is like down under? Lets ask ShitfeQ.

What is your name:
Shane Tonkes

Where are you from:
I'm from Adelaide, South Australia. But I now live up in North Queensland, Australia.

How long have you been doing what you do:
I have been playing with sound for years, since my parents bought their first crappy little PC and I discovered a program called sound recorder. (ibm 386... woah)
But more recently I stepped out of the box and began a serious mission to make sound more interesting. 2009 was the year "ShifteQ" was born. After DJing small scale and getting quite bored, I began writing music, and the rest, as they say, is history!

What are you currently working on:
Currently gearing up for the Winter Solstice Gathering, in Cairns, QLD, Australia.(www.wintersolstice.com.au)
Also looking for some new remix ideas, putting together some stuff for a local new label NoQualms Records (http://soundcloud.com/noqualms-records) website coming in days!!! and a possible release on Little Rascal Records (http://lrrecords.com.au) soon.

Whats next:
Hrmm, good question. Build an epic bass robot machine that can make beats and take over all dance floors?
Seriously, to bring bass music to the Australian audience, share the talent we have here all over the world, and open the minds of any unsuspecting social victims...
AND... to use music to spread good vibes and happy thoughts all over the auditory universe, whilst bending bass frequencies to all new levels...
